Description
Majestic scenery, a little something off the beaten path, and discovering the intricacies of a unique and gorgeous location peak your interest? So why not Chile? With Treks and Tracks as your guide and arranging for all your meals and needs, experience Patagonia authentically for eleven days from atop a Chilean horse. Like the Gaucho (those are Chilean cowboys) before you, explore the Cochamo region, dense forests in the Cordillera, and La Junta - a Yosemite-esque paradise.
Traveling by horse-trail, you'll be in the Patagonia backcountry for much of your trip. Equines are known for their sure-footedness, but be prepared for riding to be more strenuous than you imagine as they climb rocky mountains and pursue the rugged terrain. Accommodations will occasionally be in lodges, but more often you'll spend evenings in tent camps, Refugios and rustic cabins. Close to the elements, you'll eat, sleep and breathe Patagonia's true self.
Your steed will carry you across landscapes like you've never seen before. Visit ancient petroglyphs tucked away from the trail, picnic beside glittering the glittering shores of Lake Tagua-Tagua and Lake Vidal, fish in the waters of Lago Grande, and get to know what farm life is like for natives as you stay with a family and understand their daily routine. With all its sensory experiences and genuine exploration of the lay of the land, this trip is sure to induce memories that will last the rest of your life.
