Arrive at San Jose airport to and be shuttled to your hotel where you'll meet your guide and fellow guests before retiring for reviving sleep. Breakfast the next morning will fuel you for the day ahead: a hike towards the famous Guanacaste Cordillera, a string of peaks and volcanoes in northwestern Costa Rica. Hiking near the village of Bijagua, follow an invigorating trail that snakes though a rainforest landscape at a private reserve on the east side of Miravalles Volcano, where a wildlife cornucopia lies in wait. Those exotic creatures you encounter include white-face capuchin monkeys, howler monkeys, toucans and more.
Arrive at the guesthouse/ranch for the late afternoon and evening, taking time to indulge in "Pura Vida" or, "The Sweet Life." Creekside lodgings include hammocks on the veranda, rocking chairs around the outdoor chimney, a wonderful swimming hole, homecooking, birdwatching from the dining hall, a wood-fired hot tub and more. Bask in the sun or explore nature - your choice for how to relax.
Over the next few days you'll have plenty of time at the ranch, plus guided hikes in Tenorio National Park and the canopy of rainforests - all in the name of spotting the incredible creatures of Costa Rica's rainforests. You'll float or canoe down the Rio Tenorio to be in awe of iguanas, Jesus Christ lizards, capuchin, boat-billed,night-crown and tiger herons, and more native wildlife.
